HER STORY – THE COAT
Between history and myth
This exhibition explores how women survive.
I work through the body.
I work with care.
I work with what has been worn, carried and left behind.
Through the act of making, I carry women's stories into new forms.

Nothing I work with begins empty.
The leather I choose to work with has already lived another life.
The textiles have already protected another body.
I do not wish to erase those histories.
I work with them.
Through the act of making, they become part of another story.

The leather used is given to me by other women and is sewn with my own hair because it is mine to give.
It belongs to my body, and I decide what it becomes.
Hair is both intimate and political.
It carries ideas of femininity, identity, beauty and control.
By stitching with my own hair, I work with what remains when everything else has been taken away.
The act is slow.
The act of making allows the work to reveal itself.

Why Skogsrå?
The exhibition begins with a set of questions.
What if the women who were seen in the forests were never mythical creatures at all?
What if they were simply women who had been cast out?
Inspired by the Nordic myth of Skogsrå, the works move between history and mythology, asking how stories are created and whose stories are remembered.
