MY STORY

My name is Maud Karlsson Lima de Faria. I am a Swedish interdisciplinary artist based in Sweden and Portugal.

My artistic journey began in contemporary dance and performance. After eleven years in New York and decades of work as a dancer and choreographer, my practice has gradually expanded to include visual art, installations, wearable art, exhibitions and artistic concepts. Today I create work where movement, textiles, storytelling and social engagement intertwine.

Long before textiles became part of my artistic practice, they were part of my life. I have always been drawn to the history, beauty and how the textiles are crafted. To what the fabric have carried, protected and witnessed.

I am the founder of HER STORY – The Collections - part of the larger artistic platform HER STORY - an ongoing body of work exploring women's lives, memories, strength and shared experiences through multiple artistic expressions.

At the heart of my work is a desire to create connections between women. Our stories matter, they deserve to be seen, and art can become a space for dialogue, recognition and empowerment. Through my work I hope not only to raise awareness but also to contribute to real change.

I let each collection carry its own narrative, often rooted in history as well as current issues, sustainability, transformation and craftsmanship. Hopefully clothing becomes more than something we wear; it becomes a carrier of memory, identity and personal history.

To extend that idea beyond the artwork itself, a percentage of every piece sold invests and supports women through microloans and other organisations, creating a circular movement where one woman's story can help shape another's future.
